The 2nd National Spirit Play Conference is March 2nd and 3rd 2012 in San Antonio Texas. Spirit Play has quickly become a beloved method of doing R.E. with younger children. I coauthored the initial curriculum. The model is a Montessori based one inspired greatly by Jerome Berryman’s Godly Play model. I am one of the presenters and Sally Patton (with whom I worked closely while serving as the MRE at her church in Winchester Massachusetts) is the Keynote speaker which I am looking forward to. I have to hammer down my topic. I am playing with cultural appropriation issues and thoughts on the ways we avoid religious dilettantism. But I am still ruminating a bit, circling a sense of what I wish to offer but still unable to quite lay out my theme in a clear sentence or two yet.
